Bernie Wrightson Tribute Book to Debut at Comic Con

Among the many items premiering at the upcoming 2017 San Diego Comic Con is a special limited edition publication, Bernie Wrightson Art and Designs for The Gang of Seven Animation Studio. This is a tribute to the late comic book legend and horror illustrator, published to benefit Wrightson’s wife and survivors.

Animation director/producer Tom Tataranowicz explains, “Bernie died recently and left his wife in tough financial straits. So we are having a book published of the very cool, and largely unseen, art work he did for my studio. We are premiering the book at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con with a Panel. There are signings being planned to also raise proceeds to be donated to help out his wife.”

Concept drawings, model sheets and hundreds of previously unseen designs for the Biker Mice From Mars animated series as well as development art for animated horror films, The Juice and Freak Show. All the artwork in this book has been scanned directly from Bernie’s original art so fans can savor his genius up close and personal.

A panel with guest speakers is being scheduled for the Con and will be announced once final. There will also be print signings to be announced with proceeds donated to the Wrightson Family Estate. Signings and sales of the book will be exclusively at the Hermes Press booth #1821.

There will be an extremely limited quantity of these – only 100 Special Editions made. This limited quantity is available for pre-purchase on the Hermes website for pickup at the show.

This limited edition variant has a colored cover and a special “download card” that will include a never before seen animated short film, Change For A Dollar, based upon the famous poster Bernie created.

“Bernie was a true comic book legend (“Swamp Thing”), Stephen King’s favorite illustrator (“The Stand,” “Dark Tower”) and a world renowned Horror illustrator,” explains producer Tataranowicz. “He also worked at my studio designing animated projects such as the Biker Mice From Mars and several animated horror Films. He’ll never be forgotten – and impossible to replace.”
