For director Tyree Dillihay (Bob's Burgers), GOAT began as an animal basketball concept  in 2018 at Sony Pictures Animation. It grew into his passion project about roarball.

The film was written and directed by four-time Academy Award nominee Sylvain Chomet (THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE), and it has since been nominated for “Best Feature (Independent)” at the 2026 Annie Awards.
