Dreamworks Animation TV Garners 21 Daytime Emmy Nominations

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced yesterday the nominees for the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. DreamWorks Animation Television was honored with 21 Daytime Emmy nominations, with Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters leading the charge with 7 nominations (the most of any animated program), including Outstanding Special Class Animated Program!

The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show received a nomination for Best Animated Children’s Program (as did Dragons Race To The Edge). “At DreamWorks Animation we set the quality bar high and we are so fortunate to have some of the most talented artists and production personnel out there within our TV studio,” said Margie Cohn, Head of Dreamworks TV Animation. “It makes me very happy that so many of our crew have been recognized for their unique storytelling and beautiful work.”

MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN SHOW – 3 noms
– Outstanding Children’s Animated Program
– Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program
– Outstanding Original Song – “Morse Code”

DINOTRUX – 2 noms
– Outstanding Sound Mixing – Preschool Animated Program

In addition, it was announced last week that the studio was awarded 4 Daytime Emmys for Individual Achievement:

Victor Maldonado – Trollhunters – character design
Kevin Dart – The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show – production design
Eastwood Wong – The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show – background layout/painter

The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during the 2016 calendar year.

Daytime Emmy Awards to be held on Sunday, April 30th – The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards Gala is on Friday, April 28th.
