The first promotional video for Re:Bel Robotica recently dropped, along with information about the production team bringing the new original anime to life since it was confirmed in production on June 24th. In this promotional video an insert song by the renowned composer Yuki Kajiura was debuted, one of the few pieces of Re:Bel Robotica media released so far. The so-far mysterious sci-fi anime is well on its way since this announcement.
Re:Bel Robotica’s chief director Shin Onuma has taken on a wide variety of series, often chief director on them as well, among his storied career Oonuma has directed for Princession Orchestra, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, and The Ones Within. Series composition was handled by Ryo Yoshigami, well known for his work in the Psycho-Pass franchise, and the soundtrack was handled by Yuki Kajiura, who among many titles stands out for her beautiful compositions no matter the genre. From Puella Magi Madoka Magica to Sword Art Online, to the more recent Demon Slayer: kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train Arc, Kajiura has worked on some of the greatest in anime.
“While this work takes a somewhat unique approach—drawing on the worldview of the original while telling a completely new story—we’ve been able to go much deeper into the drama and emotional expression as a result. We’re taking on a range of challenges to find the very best way to bring Mika’s beautiful, delicate artwork to life in animation,” Shin Onuma commented.
Ryo Yoshigami also said, “Our goal in adapting ‘Re:Bel Robitica‘ into an anime was to let the extraordinary creativity of original author Mika Pikazo — which never fails to move its viewers—resonate throughout the entire series. Working closely with General Director Shin Onuma, we have engaged in countless conversations and repeated trial and error to ensure that Mika’s sensibility permeates everything, from the lines, colors, and visual effects through to the story, the dynamics between characters, and the dialogue. We hope you’ll look forward to the broadcast.”
And last but not least on the topic, Yuki Kajiura had to say, “The moment I was approached about the project, I read the screenplay right away—and from my very first encounter with the title and Mika Pikazo’s dazzling world, I was thrilled by what a magnetic, captivating story it was. I am truly honored to have been invited to take part!”
As an original anime, the source material came not from a manga, but from the “AAO Project” as a collaboration between several production companies to create original IP with creators. Together, these ideas are planned and produced by Amuse Creative Studio, Inc.
