Rascal

The theatrical dates for the supernatural anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend has been confirmed for February 21, 23, & 24, 2027 as a limited time event. Brought to theaters by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the film will exclusively debut in the United States and Canada. Both a subbed and dubbed version of the film will be available for viewing.

Based on Hajime Kamoshida’s original story, previously published in Dengeki Bunko, the film is directed by Soichi Masui. CloverWorks, known for Spy X Family and The Promised Neverland produced the animation. As the fourth feature film and conclusion in the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend franchise, the story continues where it last left off.

The franchise’s three films and two seasons of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend are available to binge via Crunchyroll.

In the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend series, university student Sakuta Azusagawa is investigating the “Puberty Syndrome” mystery, where the lines between dreams and reality start to become less and less clear. As just another average high school student, Sakuta never thought he’d come across something like a bunny girl in the library. It’s not just any girl he comes across, though, but a former actress and upperclassman that was popular up until her sudden disappearance. It seems that for some reason, Sakuta is the only one who can see her.

Synopsis

Sakuta’s dream on Christmas Eve comes true when the national sensation Mai Sakurajima reveals her true identity as Touko Kirishima. More and more people around the world have their dreams come true, blurring reality and perception together, and from another world, Sakuta receives a message from himself: “Stop Touko Kirishima, before reality is rewritten.”
