This Week In Berkeley: GLAS ANIMATION FESTIVAL

Starting Thursday, the 3rd annual GLAS Animation Festival takes place all over Berkeley California. Special Programs include A Conversation With David O’Reilly, An Intimate Q&A with Phil Lord & Chris Miller; presentations by Nickelodeon, Tonko House, Google Spotlight Stories; Animation surveys from Croatia and Zagreb; spotlights on animators Jorge Gutierrez, Jonathan Hodgson, Sophie Koko Gate, Réka Bucsi, Ruth Lingford, Sawako Kabuki, Michael Frei, Boris Labbé, M.A.X Helmut, and a screening of the latest features from Masaaki Yuasa… and that’s just the beginning. A complete list of special programs is here. There are shorts competition screenings and showcases, parties, networking opportunities and the rare chance to connect with the international animation scene.

The GLAS Animation Festival takes place March 22-25th, 2018, just a quick ride away from San Francisco. GLAS introduces new ideas and expands the scope of animation by bringing new voices, new talents, new themes, and a new generation of independent filmmakers and curators to the United States. They highlight fresh voices in independent animation while curating special programs of the most significant periods of animation history that serve as an inspiration for contemporary animators.

The festival takes place at six venues including Landmark Shattuck Cinemas, California Theater, Hotel Shattuck Plaza, David Brower Center, East Bay Media Center, Berkeley Art Center, and Berkeley Public Library, all within walking distance in the heart of Downtown Berkeley.

Full festival passes are available and those admit you to the parties – or separate admission tickets to each program is also an option. GO! Do not miss this incredible opportunity to have the world of animation at your feet!
