The beloved Neon Genesis Evangelion will be joining the Criterion Channel’s anime selection, alongside its succeeding films The End of Evangelion and Evangelion Death (True)², thanks to the well-known anime distributor GKIDS. Director Hideaki’s iconic series is set to debut on Criterion Channel this September 1st, and will be available for streaming in both Japanese and English dub. For those who have not yet seen one of the pillars of anime, Criterion Channel will soon be one of the sites available for streaming this classic anime.

Synopsis

The world is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan where monstrous entities known as Angels threaten to wipe out the last of humanity. For an unknown reason, only teenagers have been enlisted to pilot the only weapon that can face them: Giant and mysterious mechs known as Evas. Our hero Shinji tries to refuse the call to action, but with little choice in the matter and the world on his shoulders, a terrifying and deeply touching war for survival will unfold around him.
