Produced almost exclusively by indie artist Ryuya Suzuki, Jinsei comes to American theatres on June 12th, with a special screening the week before in New York on June 5th. Greenwich Entertainment has debuted the film’s first trailer since its private viewing at the elite Annecy Film Festival of last year.
A fully hand-drawn creative experience, Jinsei is a unique title in more ways than one. From art direction, cinematography, color design, scripting, editing, and even music, almost every credit is under the name Ryuya Suzuki. Completed in just 18 months, Jinsei would be an ambitious project for anyone, let alone an independent and new face in the scene, as Suzuki had only worked as casting coordinator on Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance the year prior.
ACE COOL, a prominent rapper in Japan, takes on the multi-named protagonist of Jinsei. Among other credits, Ayumu Nakajima plays Kuzu, Kanji Tsuda plays Shiratori, and Eri Kamataki and Shohei Uno play Yoko and Hiroshi respectively.
Synopsis
The film follows one man through 100 years, separated into chapters with each different name he took on in life. From reclusive student, to rising J-Pop star, to futuristic prophet, his life, or jinsei in Japanese, is artistically portrayed as a unique experience from start to finish.
